How to Crochet Coin Charm Anklet
Step 1: Make the First Crochet Coin Charm Anklet Tie
Ch 30.
Keep the chains even and slightly relaxed. This helps the finished tie stay flexible.
Count the chains before continuing. You should have exactly 30.
When counting your chains, do not count the loop currently on your hook. Start with the first V-shaped chain below the hook.
Step 2: Form the Crochet Coin Charm Anklet Starting Loop
Count back to the fifth ch from the hook.
Insert the hook into that chain and make 1 sl st.
This forms the small starting loop for the first shell. The remaining 25 chains make the first tie.
Step 3: Crochet the First Shell
Ch 3 and turn.
For this first shell, the beginning ch-3 counts as 1 dc.
In the starting loop, work:
1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc
You now have 2 dc on each side of the center ch-2 sp.
The first side is made from the beginning ch-3 and 1 dc. The other side has 2 dc.
Step 4: Add the First Coin Charm Without Sewing
Ch 1 and pick up one coin charm.
Keep the working loop on your hook, then insert the hook through the small hole at the top of the charm.
Yarn over and pull up a loop through the hole. You should now have 2 loops on your hook.
Yarn over again and pull through both loops to complete 1 sc.
The charm is now secured directly to the row.
Ch 1 and turn.
Step 5: Work a Plain Shell Row
Look for the open ch-2 sp in the center of the previous shell.
In that space, work:
2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc
Do not add a charm in this row.
Make sure you are working into the open ch-2 sp, not into one of the dc stitches.
Ch 3 and turn to begin the next row.
Step 6: Work the Next Coin Charm Row
In the center ch-2 sp, work:
2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc
Pause and check that both sides of the shell look even.
Ch 1 and pick up the next coin charm.
Insert the hook through the small hole at the top. Yarn over and pull up a loop through the hole.
Yarn over again and pull through both loops to complete 1 sc.
Ch 1 and turn.
Step 7: Continue the Two-Row Crochet Anklet Pattern
Continue alternating the following two rows.
Repeat Row 1: Plain Shell Row
In the center ch-2 sp, work:
2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc
Do not add a charm.
Ch 3 and turn.
Repeat Row 2: Charm Row
In the center ch-2 sp, work:
2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc
Ch 1.
Insert the hook through the hole in the next coin charm. Pull up a loop and complete 1 sc to secure the charm.

How to Adjust Your Crochet Coin Charm Anklet
Check the band around your ankle as you work.
Eleven coin charms fit my ankle, but you may need more or fewer. Stop when the center section reaches a comfortable length.
Finish after completing a Charm Row. At this point, you will have chained 1 and turned, ready to work the final shell.
Step 8: Finish the Crochet Anklet Band
After the final Charm Row, work the following into the center ch-2 sp:
2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc
This final shell gives the center section a clean finish.
Ch 1 and turn.
Step 9: Move Across the Final Shell
Sl st into the next 2 dc, one at a time.
Then sl st into the center ch-2 sp.
Step 10: Make the Second Crochet Anklet Tie
Ch 25.
The first tie began with 30 chains, but 5 were used to form the starting loop. This leaves 25 chains for the tie.
Use the same tension as the first tie so both sides match.
Count the chains before fastening off. You should have 25.
Step 11: Fasten Off the Crochet Anklet
After the final chain, cut the yarn and leave a short tail.
Pull the cut end through the loop on your hook.
Pull gently to tighten and fasten off.
Check that both ties are the same length.
Step 12: Add Optional Beads
You can leave the chain ties plain or add a small wooden bead to each end.
Another lightweight embellishment can also be used.

Common Mistakes in This Crochet Anklet Pattern
Working Into the Wrong Shell Space
Look for the open ch-2 sp in the center of the previous shell.
Every new shell is worked into this space. Do not work the shell into one of the dc stitches.
Making the Crochet Anklet Ties Too Tight
Keep both chain ties even and slightly relaxed.
Use similar tension on each side so the ties match.
Losing Track of the Shell and Charm Repeat
Alternate between:
- One plain shell row
- One charm row
Add one coin charm every other row.
Forgetting to Check the Anklet Size
Check the band around your ankle as you crochet.
